Reporting to: Development Manager (London)
The Product Development/ Garment Tech Coordinator based in Istanbul is the external extension of the
London Development and Creative team.
Working autonomously and taking initiative when needed, this resource needs to fully act as part of the
London team, not just reporting to, but also constantly updating and communicating with them.
This position will contribute to deliver from beginning to the end-product development process within UK
Product Development function, specifically for the styles developed in the Istanbul atelier as well as for the
full production fit process.
This crucial resource must operate as true technical specialists as a reliable, charismatic and diligent
professional.
DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• Building and maintaining a close working partnership with the Design and Development team in
London. Acting as the technical partner for design, attending fittings remotely, providing feedback
on technical feasibility, brainstorming ideas and solutions to ensure the design vision is translated
into product and optimised for production.
• Responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships between machinists and
pattern cutters in Istanbul and the same team in London, developing a strong working knowledge of
machinist’s capability and availability to meet demands. This includes negotiating on costs as well as
aesthetic changes to ensure design vision is maintained.
• Following the critical path, this resource must constantly be ensuring deadlines are adhered to and
follow up on all prototype/sample issues to resolve and drive to completion. Identifying, calling out
and making recommendations to mitigate any risks/challenges identified at all stages.
• Responsible for delivering prototypes and samples developed in the Istanbul Atelier on time, to the
quality standard, and within cost price range.
• Accountable for ensuring newly developed styles are completely measured and first tech pack sheets
are sealed before being sent for each fitting in London. This is only applicable if we develop new
styles in Istanbul which will not be the case most of the time.
• Responsible for ensuring functionality (including consistency and standardisation) and ensuring
products that are developed are fit for purpose for the customer, brand and business.
• Managing, organising and sealing PP fittings, making sure that technical requirements of all
prototypes and samples in preparation for production are met. Ensuring PP samples are approved per
overall critical path deadline and production deadline and that all tailors adhere to the standards of
the PP sample in house and out of house.
• Supporting in all the required ways the London design and Development team, making sure
processes are implemented and constantly followed up, to achieve the deadlines required as well as
the production deadlines to ensure everything can be produced and shipped in time.
GARMENT TECHNOLOGIST RESPONSIBILITIES
• Building and maintaining a fully updated seasonal library of garments tried on Alvanon before they
are sent to London for each fitting.
• Building and maintaining a fully updated and accessible library of measurements per each garment
that is stitched by the UK or TR atelier.
• Being responsible for keeping update the library with each tech-sheets/tech-packs for each garment
to pre work all the production stage, before handing this over to production
• Making sure fitting comments, fitting videos and finishing videos are named and organised in a
shared folder next to the tech-packs.
• Making sure all sketches’ handovers with Pattern Cutters in Turkey are arranged in time in order to
maintain deadlines and crucial fittings schedule.
• Being the main resource as technical responsible for finding solution in order to accommodate design
needs and production necessities.
• Translating all tech sheets for Garment Tech, Sevim and ensuring that all is understood and being
implemented by tailors.
• Ensuring that all grading is checked in 3D and on TR Alvanon and approved.
• Liaising as the interface between Sevim and the London development team and garment tech.
• Ensuring that overall brand standards are translated and adhered to by all the TR team in house and
out of house at all times (fusing manual, finishing manual, pattern cutting manual, grade rules, and
any other manuals created as the brand super standard)
PERSONAL PROFILE
• Ability to work in partnership with Head of Development Senior Designers, understanding and
interpreting their creative aesthetic and design vision and translating this to the team in Turkey.
• Technical capability and product knowledge with ability to confidently suggest the Design team and
provide on the spot solutions, when needed.
• Experience managing machinist/pattern cutters relationships, delivering clear briefs and leveraging
relationships to meet demands across borders so everyone works towards the same goal and
timelines.
• Critical path management ensuring collections are delivered on time, identifying, calling out and
making recommendations to mitigate any risks/challenges identified.
• Critical path management to ensure PP samples and grade sets are approved in time to meet
production timelines. Ensure all tech packs are translated on time and understood by outsourcers as
well as in house team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with credibility, share information
effectively, and work confidently with cross functional teams.
• In depth knowledge of fashion and products in relevant category - ‘fashion sensibility’ - knowledge
of trends, the market, the luxury consumer and peer awareness.
